Schaeffer Manufacturing Co. DuQuoin was founded in 1978 under the name Hicks Oils, the company originally served the lubricant needs of Southern Illinois coal mines.
As markets changed in the 80s and 90s, the company shifted its focus to include contract packaging, private label, and company branded products. This proved to be a successful move as private label packaging grew to become one of the company’s top priorities.
Schaeffer Acquires Hicks
In early 2024, Hick’s Oils lubricant business and plant was acquired by family-owned Schaeffer Manufacturing Co. and operates under the name Schaeffer Manufacturing Co. DuQuoin. The company blends and packages motor oil, hydraulic fluid, gear lubes, transmission fluids and various specialty lubricants to fulfill most industries' lubricant needs.
Schaeffer Mfg. Co. DuQuoin’s facility is located in DuQuoin, Illinois with over one million gallons of bulk storage capacity and 145,000 square feet of warehouse space. With dedicated pumps, meters, piping and tanks, we can meet virtually any volume requirement on bulk products. Schaeffer Mfg. Co. DuQuoin also has all necessary filling lines to package whatever container the customer requires; from 2.6 ounces up to railcars. With efficient bulk and package load loading areas, truck drivers have the opportunity to load quickly so they can get back on the road with very little downtime.
